Grana Padano is a hard, cooked, slow-ripening Italian PDO cheese belonging to the generic family of grana. It is produced in thirty-two provinces of Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy, Piedmont and limited to the autonomous province of Trento, where it takes the name of Trentingrana, and of Veneto; all stages of the production chain (breeding and milking of cows, collection and transformation of milk into cheese, maturing, possible grating) must necessarily take place in the area of ​​origin. With 4 942 054 wheels produced it is the best-selling PDO cheese in the world, and with 1 938 328 wheels exported, corresponding to about 130000 t, it is the most appreciated Italian cheese abroad
